What makes oneself fear of death even though he/she knew that there is life after death?

  1. Because people know that they have to answer for their wrong doing after death.  Even athiests know this.


  2. I believe we are most fearful of the pain associated with dying. No matter how strong one's faith is, or how sure one is of a life after death, the thought of dying from a devastatingly painful disease such as cancer or being in a terrible traffic accident is daunting.

    The other part of this is fear of the unknown. We don't know what's going to happen, or when. So we're totally not in control of this event.

  3. Yes, very interesting question.  

    I would fear more of what I have yet to do on Earth.  What more I'd want to accomplish.  If I had them, I'd want to make sure my wife and kids were okay.  Make sure my parents are okay...etc.  I fear death because I know there is still much more I can do here.

  4. I think that it is the will to survive, the instinct to preserve your own life that is inate. Then in life you experience witnessing andhearing of terrifying things and how others die. With that comes fear on top of it.
