What makes people attracted to others?

Question

like i get the basis of human attraction and in order to reproduce, but why are some people attracted to one guy when others think he is ugly and so forth. some people like muscly guys some like skinny ones.

what is the reason for this?

is it the way we are brought up or what?

no....just...this is called differency..every1 has different taste...like pheromones??,,,,ok.look.....people are all different..like with different genes.....and they all like different things.....which narrows the question down to be Why does everyone have different taste?..well because what if all the girls like the same type of guys?...what would happen to the guys that werent that type?.......and no1 is the same,so every girl in the world would be chasing after ONE guy....and there would technically be no reproduction really.....there would be no point in life..so yuppppp.:]

because we are humans,not robots.just think how sad, not to mention boring  the world would  be if every one  looked, thought, ate, walked and talked the same.  it has nothing to do with who or how you was brought up.  we are all raised by one race or the other yet many of us marry out side of our race and our raising.  we human are more attracted by personalty's  then we are looks. yes we all notice the good looking guy or the pretty girl first but it takes very little time to get past the looks. a jerk is a jerk no matter how good looking they are. there goes the attraction. 20/20 done a report in a  study that says men and women with big , round, brown eyes, are considered  the most attracted people. next was women with big blue eyes and men with big green eyes. it said  with in a marriage those people are forgiven for ling and even cheating more then others.  speaking as women when our clock starts ticking we are attracted to the man we think will make the best father to our children more then the good looking guy that already has children hes not taking care of now or makes it clear he does not want children.

Most attraction is due to how well ones face and body is symmetrical down the the center of the body.  This has been established medically and documented on TV (60 minuets).  More symmetry in the face and body bodes better for mating due to our inherit need to made the species better.  I am attracted to brunettes that are slim due to my slim frame also a preference to tan or darker women.  I believe this due to my better luck or more favorable experience with this demographic of women.

In biology my teacher told us that we have like a subconcious nose that picks up the scents of others. This is literal of course...I'm not sure of scientific phrases. She said our nose picks out those who will be best compatible with our genes to create a stronger race for natural selection...which is when mother nature gets  rid of the weak and only the strong survive.

I think what you've been exposed to can determine who you're attracted to.  If you've been "told" somehow that a certain characteristic is attractive, you will believe it.  Different people are going to be exposed to different aspects of life, so their opinions will be different.

everyone is different, some people get attracted to guys who wear eyeliner while for me thats a major turn-off turn-ons

and also it's not like people are only attracted to one type of guy, i've been attracted to guys who were short, tall, skinny, muscular, who had a great smile, or who had an awful smile but great eyes it all depends on how they carry themselves and how their features are in proportion to each other

a girl may swoon over a hot guy, but she'll really love the one who can make her smile from his great personality

For questions like this, it might be better to direct your questions more personally. What I mean by this is because you represent a sample subject to whom your question applies, you can answer your own question and use those answers to help you understand why some people are attracted to others.

Its like asking why do people like meat. If you like meat, then the answers you would give are probably related to answers other people would give, so you don't need to ask for an outside opinion. That would only be required if, for instance, you asked a question about why do people don't like meat (a question you can't answer because it doesn't apply to you.)

i think society plays a huge role in this.  society tells us what is good for us and we base who we find attractive from that.  here is an example.  society tells us that fat is unhealthy, so we find thin people attractive.  we also like those we are more similar like us.  it automatically give us something in common
