What makes people say that Palin is Racist?

Did she say or do something to make her sound racist? Or is it just that she was chosen by McCain?

And why is McCain racist? What did he do to make people think that way?

Ever since Clinton lost, I assumed everyone was voting for Obama so I stopped paying attention.

I haven't heard any claims of racism, at least not in the mainstream media.  There might be rumors floating around in liberal blogs.

The only thing I've heard with a possible connection to this is her alleged affiliation with the Alaska Independence Party, which is tenuous at best (and, in any case, the party doesn't appear to be racist).

The same goes for McCain - allegations may arise from some crude jokes that he's made in the past, his opposition to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday in the early 1980s, and maybe even from his lack of vehemence in shooting down rumors about Obama (that he is a Muslim, etc.).  He hasn't done anything - recently, anyway - that I'm aware of to attract serious allegations of racism.

It's worth noting here that neither Republican candidate is popular among minority voters.  That certainly doesn't make either of them racist, though.

EDIT: I ran a search for "palin racist".  There are no reputable stories on the subject - mostly commenters at various sites generically labelling neocons, evangelicals, and Republicans as racist.  It doesn't look like anyone is offering reasons why they think so.  I wouldn't think about it too much.
