  1. Going against the norm right now and not be afraid of the reprecussions and instead base your decisions on how to help your team win.

For example, almost every manager will go to a lefty specialist against a say David Ortiz because they know that's what they're "suppose" to do when they really might want to think about a righty reliever that they know is better. But they do that because even if the lefty messes up, it's not the manager's fault because he made the "right" call by going to the lefty. That's just a small example but managers should base their decisions on what is best for winning and now trying to make everyone happy.

  2. There are many things that makes a coach good, knowing your players strengths and weaknesses, knowing the other teams strenghts and weaknesses, knowing a lot about baseball. But if you're trying to be a good coach you won't exactly be recognized as a good coach if you don't have good players. Take Joe Maddon, Tampa Bay Rays coach, for example last year he would have been the last coach you  would think of as being a good coach but this year when all of his prospects got MLB ready and got called up thay started winning and now everyone thinks he's an amazing coach

  3. to know the game of course, there are some coaches out there who are clueless!
