not being urself. hanging out with people you have nuthin in common with.. talking and acting a certain way.. just to prove to someone you "belong"

Lack of confidence.  If you are confident enough you can pull off anything.

When you have on too much make on. When u have a fake tan. Weave. And trying to act like something ur not to fit in

wen they have too much make up and bling on. but a lot posts on here say that false tan makes sumone look like they are trying too hard and that is not the case sum people [obviously not people on here] try to look good and take care of themselves. people who are wrinkled and look like a leather handbag from too much sun look awful! that why people use false tan

It usually has to do with people overdoing it and like they want to be the center of attention, and it also has to do with being something you're not.  For example, a teenager (who  is labeled a prep) who puts ripped tights over pre-ripped jeans with a few belts (below the chest and on hips), with a caked on face that looks like they were trying to paint a piece of artwork, is obviously trying too hard.

Fake things can make someone look like they are trying too hard, also.  Such as, fake coach bags, fake tans, fake lashes, etcetera.
