What makes the Aurora/Northern Lights?

I heard it was the sunlight reflecting of the polar ice caps. Is that true?

  2. its high frequency EM waves form the sun concentrated to the poles by the atmosphere spliting and recombing ozone the green and nitrogen the blue.
