  1. The constant angle at which the earth is tilted. During summer north of the equator the earth is in that part of it's orbit around the sun when the northern hemisphere is angled toward the sun making the sun's energy more concentrated per a given area in the north than it is for the same area in the south. It has nothing to do with the hemispheres difference in distance from the sun but only where the energy is concentrated. You can prove it with a flashlight and a round object like a balloon. Since the earth's tilt doesn't change the middle of summers in the north vs. the south are 6 months apart with the springs and falls coming in between.  


  2. Seasons are produced by the combined effect of the tilt of the earth's axis and the revolution of the earth around the sun.
