  1. Beats hugging a polar bear.

  2. Agreed, empathy, I tend to feel a comradery with the meek and oppressed in general.  However, i've found that feeling sorry for them rarely helps them or me.  In fact it seems that whenever you actively compare yourself with someone, whether the effect is detrimental to your ego (someones better than you), or lends to compassion (feel like you can help someone), It rarely helps anyone.  In my experience, the latter is the real killer.  Put roughly; you don't need the responsibility of being someones savior, and they dont need your pity.  It's best to just have square dealings with everyone.

  3. empathy. u feel sorry 4 them.

  4. remembering what it is like to be shy and that sense of wanting to try to be as sensitive as it takes to reach the person inside. it sort of happy knowing there is something really precious and fragile inside there being protected.

it s nice to have a chance to take the big ' grounding' boots off.

  5. I agree its empathy, and with me personal I take it upon my self to build there self confidence allowing them to eventually break the boundary and be more open and accepting. Shy people usually lack self confidence, from years of put downs and insults. Joys of school. I use to be one of those shy people and thanks to a friend of mine I have learn't to speak up.

Patience is the key. But yes I am the same.
