  1. Chemically, water is a natural substance with molecules composed of two hydrogen atoms bonded to one oxygen atom.  It is one of the most abundant chemicals on this planet.

Call this "theoretical" water.  Water is never this pure as to be only these molecules.  If it were, it would be hostile to life.  Absolutely pure water would dissolve glass slightly (but only a little bit, because then it becomes impure).

However, the water we experience on a day-to-day basis is not a pure substance.  It has many other things dissolved or suspended in it.  Thus the water we use also has other chemicals dissolved in it, salts, minerals, animals, bacteria, viruses, algae, air, pollution...

Call this "real" water.... this is impure water ... living water; the water that keeps us alive.

  2. H2O = 2 hydrogen and 1 Oxygen Atom

    or

    1 H+ ion and 1 OH- ion

  3. WATER:a compound of hydrogen and oxygen, (H2O)

  4. Water is composed of one part hydrogen and two parts oxygen.

  5. Water is H2O. 2 hydrogen molecules and 1 oxygen molecule bonded together.

  6. Hydrogen and Oxygen

(2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen)

    H2O

  7. 2 atoms of hydrogen 1 atom 1 oxygen

    covalent bond

  8. two Hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom combine to form H2O (water)
