What makes wind form?

i need a simple and short explanation if possible. i probably might have learned it in the past, but then i obviously forgot, so...

  1. MILWX has put it very nicely: Wind = difference of pressure because of different heating.

    A good example is a sea breeze.

    Along a coast, during daytime, the sun heats the land faster than the sea. The air rises over land, creating a low pressure. The air then moves from the sea toward the land.

    During the night, the land cools down faster than the sea and the system is inverted.


  2. Hey short and sweet here it is. Difference in horizontal heating. Different things absorb the sun's heat differently and cause low and high pressures. Wind generally flows from high pressure to low. So there it is.
