  1. Having your inner Self over-ridden by an outer mask.

You get the general idea by answers already given...not walking the talk--practicing what you preach, doing something for the sake of appearance to others that doesn't coincide with how you truly feel...not reflecting the REAL you in action or voice.

    Good Journey!!!

  2. telling someone not to do something..

but you think it's okay for you to turn around and do it...

although in my opionion.. there are many different situations where it doesn't apply.

  3. When you say or advocate something that you think is wrong and then turn around a do it youself. Like you advocate recycling but you don't recycle.

  4. Issues with passing my classes which then leads to a lowered self-esteem.

  5. R U asking what makes someone/anyone hypocritical?  Or r u asking what makes me, the reader, hypocritical?

    Part I:

What makes someone hypocritical is when they say one thing then do the opposite like say people should be open-minded but then denegrate people for having beliefs that are contrary to their own.

    Part II:

What makes me hypocritical is that i say people should get the most of theirs lives and my personal slogan is Carpe Diem - Seize the Moment yet i waste so much of my life sleeping or on-line instead of finishing the novels i have started or the plethora of other projects i 'claim' i want to accomplish from house-hold projects to volunteering to entrepreneurial pursuits.

  6. saying one thing and doing another, i.e. you tell your kids not to do drugs but you smoke weed

  7. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

  8. I think judging something and putting it down, and then turning around and doing it is hypocritical. But, thats just my opinion?

  9. pretty much when you do things that you say are bad or just do the opposite of what you say you should do.

  10. I really try not to be hypocritical! This definitely not a trait that I personally hope that I don't have!  I am sure at some time I may have been, maybe without even realizing it!

  11. a 180 degree difference between your actions and  what you said you would do

  12. a hypocrite is someone who says something and then does the exact opposite.

for example, a person could own a health food store and promote a healthy lifestyle, but eat nothing but fast food.  they would be a hypocrite.

  13. Well, some might find me hypocritical because I am for equality, but I don't support g*y and L*****n rights or abortion because I do not feel these things have anything to do with equality, I feel they have to do with selfishness, pollute the minds of our youth, and confuse the definition of gender. ;-)

  14. not practicing what you preach :)
