What makes you spill your coffee on yourself in the car on the way to work?

Our brains aren't all the way awake, so we're more clumsy than usual and make bad judgments that we normally wouldn't make, e.g. picking up the cup and sloshing it because you aren't holding it level, or accidentally tipping it too much when you're drinking and missing your mouth.

I'm a mess in the morning.
