  1. Dont give the customers a chance to suck up the last bit of drink in their glass. fill it up before it gets empty...

  2. # 1 Be friendly and smile.

    # 2 Apologize if the meal takes a while

    # 3 Keep the coffee cups hot and refilled, or soft drinks, etc.

    # 4 Don't flirt with the opposite s*x when they are with someone, that could lose your whole tip...

Just do the best you can. The proper etiquette is to pay 15%. The easy way to figure it is to double the taxes depends on your location.

If you are new, then time will mean alot to you. You will learn as everyone does who starts a new job "to pay your dues". You'll have some up times and some down times.

Depending on the restaurant location, type and clientell, you'll find that the economy plays a role in your new job's profit and loss.

  3. I do tip good if  the waiter/waitress was nice, smiled , do not bothered me with a lot of visits and was polite but more important if she/he pay attention to me and took my order correctly. ( Usually I do tip 20 percent or more because I was waitress few years ago in New York)

Tips: Give the menu and suggest anything delicious for the day or the special of the house. Take their orders. Put  or send it in the kitchen soon as you have the order( the skill you must develop in restaurant is timing). After that take more orders or take care of any additional duties. Do not forget that customers are waiting for their food. Make sure the food will no get cold before you serve. When the kitchen calls you, go there and serve the food. If they do not call you after 10 minutes go to the kitchen. Remember dishes such as seafood or soups can take more time in their preparation. Always write the time you take the order in case the kitchen guys are taking too much time. After you serve; do not bother your customers a lot. Let them enjoy the food. They will appreciate your professional touch.

If that day you are sad or have a problem try to do not show your emotions people just one a nice place to eat.

  4. be veryy generous and have a good attitude. and try to connect with them or some thing just try your hardest and just be kind

  5. Tipping has a lot to do with how the waiter/tress treats their customer, is he/she friendly, with a smile in her face, willing to accommodate their customers desires, keeps their table clean and offers beverages often, willing to recommend dishes from the menu.

Familiarize yourself with the menu, the drinks, the substitutions that the restaurant can offer, the sitting arrangements, etc., become part of the kitchen working force, they will help you out, be friendly , courteous, and helpful.

    Good Luck.

  6. glad you asked.  A friendly positive attitude.  I want some one who is clean and make me feel as important as the next guy.  visit my table when you see the glass half empty or too much junk on the table.  But do not visit too much, It becomes annoying.  Talk with a smile it brightens ones day. Remember, you may be the one person that can help lighten someones   day. I don't tip  because I like what's being served, I time because I like who is serving it .  And if your attitude is bad, I will give you a weak tip, only because the bus boy and the cook gets a percentage.

  7. As a rule I tip at least 20 percent anyway but this can get you more in my opinion:

    * Have definite opinions on the menu.  If someone asks if something is good, do not just shrug.  Tell the truth meaning if you feel a portion is a bit small or something is super popular.

    * If you have the time, pay attention when you stop by the table for a follow-up.  Do not come if we are really into eating or conversation but wait a bit.  Maybe until someone needs a drink.

    * Be timely with the check.  Sometimes people want out and they have to wait forever.

Good luck.  I think if you are asking these questions, you will be thoughtful and be a great waitress!

  8. Most people tip generously if the service was exceptional.  (e.g., if the server was attentive and hospitable, if he/she was efficient, etc.)

Be friendly and remember that it takes practice.  I know you'll do great because you seem conscientious and want to succeed.

    Good luck!

  9. 1. smile

    2. be attentive.  if you have to wait 30 minutes for a refill on your tea, you're not generally going to leave great tips.

    3. make the customers feel like they are welcome, that you're glad they are there and you want to be of service.

It really doesn't take much.  A little common curtesy, a smile and attentiveness.

  10. how good looking are they?

  11. 1) Condiments on the table before food arrives so I don't have to wait while the food cools off.

    2) If I order hot tea, please bring it right away. Often my husband sips his coffee and my tea isn't brought until the food arrives.

    3) I always tip great if the server puts my leftovers in the doggie bag like the good old days when it was the standard.

    4) Please smile

  12. When he or she is genuinely into doing his or her job well. Its something that cant be faked.

  13. Serve the way you would like to be served.

  14. Be happy and smile.

Keep my drink full so that I don't have to ask for a refill.

Bring the appetizer or salad in a timely fashion.  I don't like to sit and wait and then have the salad and main course at the same time.

Bring the check in a timely fashion.  I don't like to have to wait for it.

If you collect the money, make sure to bring the charge slip or the change back quickly.

If the customer has kids, try to relate to them or assist the parents when you can.  This could be extra napkins, or something for the child to munch on while they are waiting.

If the food is taking to long, let the customer know that you are looking into it.

Always check back after a couple of minutes of serving the food to make sure that they have everything they need.

If they order fries, just bring the ketchup.  If they order toast, just bring the jelly.  Don't make them  ask for things that are common to that type of food.

  15. If they get my order correct and don't hint at a tip, remember to fill my glass and is polite but not too friendly.
