What makes your tongue tingle when eating fruits?

This always happens to me when i eat kiwis. And I just ate a few figs and i have that same odd numbing tingle.

  1. the acid in the fruit

    i think its citric acid im not sure.

    fell asleep during science.


  2. could be the citric acid found in most fruits.  Its used as a hormone along with a few others by the plant to ripen and drop the fruit.
