I know that they're both when you do very well in a music exam and are well over the pass mark. I know it's out of 100 but wondered what the marks are for each. I'm taking my grade 3 or higher at christmas on flute (my first intrument) and will have been playing for about 6 months so have no clute with music grading.

  1. I can't remember much (last music exam I did was for clarinet 4 years ago...), but I think its around 80 or 90 for distinction, and anout 60 or 70 for merit.

I could be wrong. But thats roughly what I believe they are.

Good luck with your exam :) I'm sure you'll do fine! Just learn the scales :P They're the hardest part!

  2. For and Abrsm exam:

    100 - 119 Pass

    120 - 129 Merit

    130 - 150 Distinction

[For theory exams its out of 100]
