  1. Just go type in Bruce Lee on wikipedia, and read his bio. He studied several martial arts, and invented Jeet Kune Do.

  2. Kung Fu.

    Most likely the Mantis style.

  3. Bruce Lee trained in mostly Chinese martial arts, like different forms of Kung Fu and Wing Chun, but he also trained in western Boxing and Fencing.

Then he took the knowledge of several martial arts and came up with Jeet Kune Do, which is really more of a philosophy than a martial art.

  4. Before he created Jeet Kune Do, he was a pro at Wing Chun and Kung Fu.

  5. From what I know he practiced a few but was considered the originator of Jeet Kun Do.

  6. he practiced wing chun in the beginning and learnt a lot of other arts from friends and books

  7. He developed Kung Fu by juxtaposing a variety of different styles of martial arts.

  8. It's kung fu.  Check out wikepedia and they tell you all about him.

  9. Wing Chun, Kung Fu, Boxing, Fencing, Savate, Kickboxing.  If you read the Tao of Jeet Kune Do you see that he gets into wrestling a little bit.  I've studied JKD for 6 years, we are affliated with the Inosanto Academy in California.

  10. Agree with Julius.

Started in primarily in Wing Chun under Yip Man (but with some Tai Chi background from his father).

First taught his brand of Kung Fu, as "Jun Fan Gung Fu" ("Jun Fan" being Bruce Lee's Chinese name) - which was primarily a modified version of Wing Chun.

After being dissappointed in his performance in a fight with Wong Jak Man (took him too long to win according to most witnesses and Bruce Lee, and a tie according to Wong Jak Man), he started to develope Jeet Kune Do - or the Way of the Intercepting Fist

JKD has a lot of Wing Chun, Western Boxing, Fencing theory, grappling and LOTS of bits from various other Kung-Fu styles (Mantis, Shaolin, etc).  He also stated that it should be adaptable, and be adapted to the practitioner.

Since JKD was developed in America, some consider it an American Kung-Fu.

  11. He studied Wing Chun under Yip Man. This is a simple and efficient style, but he wanted something more "flowery" for movies. He added some footwork from European boxing and some higher kicks from unknown sources, copied from Japanese or Korean styles. He later invented his own style called Jit Kun Do.

  12. primarily wing chun, though later he blended western boxing, grappling, and fencing with it to create jeet kune do.

  13. I think he developed his own brand of martial art having studied many different types of self defence.

  14. Bruce Lee studied Wing Chung Kung Fu at Ip Man's school with William Cheung in Hong Kong before coming to California.
