  1. Well, just basic Tae-kwon-do is the best if you want to learn the simple stuff. Tae-kwon-do is the art of self-defense, which is pretty much what you want to do, right? I took it for a year and I would be able to save myself in a bar fight or something. (I know, bad example. But I couldn't think of anything else!) If you are a woman, (sorry, you didn't have an avatar and I couldn't tell from your name.) or are taking a woman with you, there are also a lot of self defense classes especially for us.

  2. Maybe Judo or Hapkido/Aikido? I wouldn't recommend a striking art for self defense.

  3. The easiest one is sometimes the BEST one. Just learn how to run faster. It's one of the most basic forms of self defense known to man, and works practically every time it is tried. How many times have you ever seen a man with a knife of a gun CHASING someone down the sidewalk???? It almost never happens....not even in the movies. Once the bad guy realizes you are a track star he will most likely walk away.

If you don't have 5-10 years to learn karate or Tae Kwon Do you are only FOOLING yourself. Your life is worth more than the contents of your wallet or what ever else the other person wants. Start learning HOW to avoid trouble by learning where NOT to go, what NOT to say and to react when you see trouble.

  4. Jiu Jitsu sounds good for you. You can learn basic moves that are easy and can really keep you safe. Jiu Jitsu is a submission martial art that can keep you strong for self defense

  5. If you just want a basic self defense then go with Krav Maga.

  6. I would recommend muay thai cause it teaches how use ur elbows and knees along with ur fists and shins. The basics r quite simple and easy. muay thai has simple but lethal attacks cause it attacks nerves and pressure points. Basically the entire body becomes a weapon. There r instructional videos u could look up. If u want to learn the ultimate that consists of bone-shattering techniques then go to thailand when ur exploring.

  7. listen if u just want basic self defence and dont have all too much time to dovote to training then learn one or these

    krav maga

    syestema

womens self defence [though u might not be comfortable there]

    jeet kune do

    hikuta

oh and i suppose xma[often called extream martial arts sometimes refered to as extream monkey arts]

from top to bottom best order trust me i have many yearss in martial arts

oh and also in muay thai ,kickboxing, and boxing there is a lot of sparring for begginers so these are decent as well as judo or jujitsu but  i still stick with my earlier list as best short time self defence styles
