  1. You are young and have lots of years to grow, so I'm guessing you'll be a big guy by 17.  Since you aren't done growing I wouldn't make height and weight my first consideration - think of what you want to get out of it instead.

Do you want to ground fight?  Judo or Jiu Jitsu might work.

Do you want free lessons?  Your school may have a wrestling team

Do you want to punch?  Boxing...

Check out some local schools and see what appeals to you - there are tons of good styles.  I do Muay Thai, Jeet Kun Do, and Jiu Jitsu now, and I've studied boxing, Tae Kwon Do, and kickboxing.  All of them are really great, and useful in their own way.

  2. At 13 I wouldn't really chose based on somma type.  Martial Arts are a life long pursuit and your body will be exponentially different at 18 - 25  - 35 then it is at 13.  I would focus on finding a quality school near by first.  If that style dosen't compliment your body style when you are an adult you can cross train with a different style then.

  3. Japanese Jiu-jitsu.

    Best wishes :)***

  4. Go to http://www.thebams.com/index.asp or contact them at 301-776-0909

  5. idk you should try Jiu-JustIU

  6. I would suggest you try whichever appeals to you most. Search the web for info and videos and learn about different martial arts before deciding; you could even go to visit some different martial arts studios/dojos to try to determine where you feel most comfortable. I would say that height, weight and age shouldn't figure too much into your decision... unless you're considering sumo wrestling.

    :-)
