What martial arts are used in the show "Avatar"?

When the characters are doing "Bending" they are using some kind of martial art. I think a slightly different one each element. What martial art is it? Tai-chee?

  2. It is kung fu.. I don't remember what the other three were specifically but firebending is Northern Shaolin....

    They studied a lot to figure out which form would match which bending....

    Here we go.. Ba Gua is airbending

    Hung Gar is earthbending

    And to answer your question yea, Tai Chi is waterbending..

  4. they are different styles from Northern, and Southern Korea. I mix of Tai-chi, Tae Kwon Do, and i think Wushu

  8. The best way to answer your question is to lead you to the source: Sifu Kisu. Those are his motions. Look him up on Youtube and Myspace. Basically he uses Northern Shaolin and Hung gar. The earth element is hung gar, I believe. He may use Bagua Zhang and Xing Yi Zhang to represent the other elements. Like I said, though, Kisu is the authority.
