  1. I'd agree with dave generally speaking.

you're at that size where you could do everything equally well.

i am 6'5 so i don't use many throws because it is just too hard sometimes to get my hips under someone who is shorter than i am.

on the other hand if someone is 5'3 and 200 lbs...he'd be a terrific wrestler, judo or brazilian jujutsu practitioner.

then a guy who is 6'5  would be great at striking arts becaues of his long reach.

you could go to practically any school that teaches any art and do really well.

if you want a traditional art...look into okinawan karate, or japanese karate.

if you want something easier,...you can look into boxing, kickboxing. muay thai (muay thai is traditional but noone teaches it that way much anymore)

for grappling...brazilian jujutsu (or judo) or sambo will be fine...they are all judo anyway really...with a different emphasis. maeda, who taught carlos gracie was a member of the kodokan.

for self defense...be wary of sporting arts though. they will not prepare you for alot of things you may have to face in a real fight.

it isnt always 1 on 1, without weapons, fighting under agreed rules in a controlled environment...etc

or you can just find a mma, or shootfighting school and learn it all in a sportive context.

or a modern self defense art like vee arnis jutsu, jeet kune do, or some military/police tactical type systems that will teach you street defense.

  2. Greco roman wrestling and muiy thia, or however you spell that.

  3. the rotund slam or sumo

  4. Gung fu

  5. You should probably do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and i would do some sort of boxing or kick boxing

  6. i'm about your height and weight. the best combination that i have found for me is BJJ and kickboxing/Muay Thai. Since you have judo you have a good base for BJJ which, if done correctly and properly, can adapt to really anyones body type. kickboxing is also good to start with, then move to MT.

    hope this helps.

  7. After trying many styles over the last 24 yrs. I was awe struck by American Kenpo and what Ed Parker taught, when  you get to the advanced levels it’s unbelievable, it seems magical. Your background is a plus as Judo is just one part of Kenpo
