Question:

What martial arts style should I try?

I have been practicing Americanized Tae Kwon Do for over 10 years. Now I want to learn another style to compliment the stand up ability I already have. I would really like to learn some throws or takedowns (like Judo) but also submissions (maybe Brazilian JuJitsu). I dont' want to stop or give up my tae kwon do but I want to add to my ability and expand my knowledge. What would you suggest and why?

  1. Sambo and China would be good for it! You should consider Aikido but be warned it's limited on ground game. Krav Maga is good to blend in your skills!

  2. You want another martial art to compliment your stand up ability? Unless you're taking hard style TWD, which i highly doubt, then you have little stand up ability outside TWD competitions.

I would personally do sambo over BJJ.

  3. As you already know stand up then, Bjj or Judo would suffice.

But I'd look into Japanese jiu-jitsu as it deals with real street self defence .

    Best wishes :)***

  4. That's very good thinking. Try either BJJ or Ninjutsu.

  5. Both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo are very good martial arts, so take both.

    Why not?
