  2. There is no possible way to safely make your own contact lenses.

Contact lenses work by adjusting the misformed shape of your eye into one that correctly sees the images in front of the cornea and causes the light to reflect properly. There is no way to manually make that configuration properly.

Additionally, were the "ingredients" available to you to be able to manufacture a pair of contacts, doing so by hand would not allow for them to be comfortable enough or allow enough oxygen to permeate the lens to get oxygen to the eye. That could cause injury and permanent damage to the eye.

Although I can completely understand wanting to save money, especially with the rising cost of gas, and the economy in a weak position, I can not, in good faith even suggest that you do something that would cause you to risk your health.

Finally, I would advise you that if you are wanting to wear contacts instead of glasses that you look into other ways to economize the use of contacts. That would include purchasing larger size eye cleaner and daily use solutions, and buying your lenses in bulk or looking at getting them online where the savings can be substantial.

I wish you all the best in maintaining good eye health and  saving money, but strongly caution you against taking the gift of vision away from yourself for the savings of a few dollars.
