What materials can be engraved?

i'm thinking about getting a guitar pick engraved for my boyfriend for his birthday but im not sure what types of materials are even engravable... i know stainless steel but im just wondering if there is anything else...

Pretty much any solid material can be engraved.  That means that any material that can serve as a guitar pick can be engraved.

plastic should be engravable, because I had to get my welding mask engraved, it engraved fine, same with my protective glasses
