  1. Most good beauty supply shops - some are open to the public - have 3-d supplies. Also search on the internet for nail supplies. You can get thin sheets of silver, gold, and copper foil, tiny beads, bits of feather, lace, etc. All these are dropped onto wet topcoat. Striping paint and air brushes are also available.  Your imagination is the limit. A publication like Nails Magazine gave me a good start.

    Colored acrylic powder is absolutely great. Using a tiny brush you can create all kinds of raised acrylic designs that will adhere well to any acrylic underneath or good top coat. Embellish them with the stuff above.  

    After the design is dry cover it with a special heavy topcoat made for that purpose. Check out gold or silver 3d charms which either lie on top or have a screwpost to go through the free edge. Keep it all covered with heavy topcoat
