What matter when you buy a detergent? efficiency, price, packaging, smell, biodegradable or not allergic?

I want my Detergent to Work, to be Scentless, at an Affordable Price- & completely Biodegradable (in its packaging- also).    :)

For the price,  The more uses for the best price is good.  The product has got to work too with getting stains out, I have kids.  Smell does not bother me but the boys do not want to smell like a girl.  Biodegrable and efficiency are not on the top of my list.
