  1. Major issue is to prove ties to your home country...


  2. Reasons for visa refusal include:  Terrorist related activity; criminal activity; and insufficient finances, lack of ties to home country and other indications that you are an intending immigrant.  Prior travel to Europe does not hurt, but neither does it necessarily help.
