I am traveling to Cancun area in May and am wondering what ruins you can still climb and also (this might sound morbid) I was wondering which sites have the rocks where they had sacrifices and that is still stained with blood. I just find it interesting that after so many years there is still blood stained there.

  1. You can still climb many sites. Ek Balam, Coba as mentioned, Kabah, X'cambo, Itzamal. There is a pyramid at Uxmal that you can climb but the famous pyramid of the dwarf/magician is closed to climbing. It's my understanding that the pyramid of Kukulcán  (El Castillo) at Chichen Itza is no longer open for climbing but that's just what I heard.

Uxmal & Tulum have red hand prints but it's paint. Ek Balam has some original stuco work, but no blood at any site that I know of & certainly not any that would be visable to the naked eye.

  2. This is the TRUTH

    Out of RESPECT

You do NOT climb the ruins direct...NOT a straight line

    Zig Zag somewhat

    I swear this is true

OUT of RESPECT for the GODS

  3. You can not climb the pyramid at Chichen-Itza, but you can climb the pyramid at Coba. Chichen-Itza does have another building you can climb - the Observatory (?).  I visited Chichen-Itza, Tulum, and Coba - sorry, I didnt see any blood, anywhere!!

  4. You can still climb the pyramids at Coba and there are daily buses from Cancun.

Sorry, no blood.  The blood would have washed away with the rain years ago.

  5. That blood is not from the ancients...  It is from tourists who fall on the way down.  Lol!

  6. As far as I know you can still climb Chichen-Itza Pyramid
