Question:

What meals don't involve meat?

I am not a vegetarian, I just don't really like eating meat. I don't mind meat in things like spag bol and chilli etc. Not keen on joints of meat though.

Any ideas for evening meals? Everyone else in the house likes meat so something fairly quick and easy for me to do on my own - might need to add that I am poor to novice at cooking.

Thanks

  3. What is a "joint" of meat?  It sounds like you only like ground beef?

If you're not a big meat eater and the rest of your family is, you don't have to do anything special.  You can cook regular meals and just not take a meat portion for yourself.  Or you can substitute the meat with beans or vegetables.  For example, instead of a meat sauce in lasagne, substitute the meat for finely diced vegetables for a veggie lasagne.  As long a you use lots of cheese, you'll be getting the protien you need and your family will be happy.

  4. Jacket potato and beans (slurp).

    veg stir fry,

    Egg and chips

Just see what's in the cupboard and ask yourself "Would that go with rice?"

  5. pasta dishes (just don't add meat), you can make a veggie stir-fry, steamed vegtables with cheese or some kind of seasoning or sauce, etc.

  6. toast and jam lol

  7. soy hot dogs, bread buns, ketchup, chilli

    veggie burgers!!!!

Trader joes is a good store to get that kind of stuff

  8. -omelette

-stir fry vedge (noodles or pasta sauce of choice)

  9. Pasta (you can add things like like spinach, mushrooms, peas, broccoli, olives, tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, whatever you like)

Stir Fry (broccoli, carrots, peppers, onions, mushrooms, over some sort of your fav rice)

Tacos (corn and onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese, sour cream)

    Salsa

    Tortilla Soup

    Vegetable Soup

    Pizza

    Salads

    Veggie Burgers/Veggie Hot Dogs

Sushi (vegetarian sushi with avocado, cucumber, etc.)

    Rice and Bean Enchilada

    Macaroni and Cheese

    Cous Cous with Green Beans

    Humus and Pita appetizer

  10. Try macaroni cheese, easy and meat free, even us meat munchers love it.

  11. noodles

  12. Beans on toast.

  13. You can use soy based products. LightLife is a good brand and also Boca, they both make a ton of different burgers and prepackaged meals that are just heat - n - eat.  Also, if you like mushrooms, try substituting portabella mushrooms for meat in recipes.  Really good on the grill and super easy to cook......

  14. Vegetable curry use Pataks curry paste in a jar and follow the instructions, it's easy. You can have any Veg you like. Nice with Basmati Rice and Naan bread.

  15. salad -x

  16. Bean chilli...

    Tin of green lentils

    chopped green pepper

    Tin of chopped tomatoes

    chopped onion

    Tin of kidney beans

Chuck it all in a pan, boil up for half an hour, add as much or as little chilli powder as you like and serve with rice.  I'm a meat eater and even I think it's yummy!  The kidney beans help to beef it up and give it more texture, something which in my limited experience veggie dishes tend to lack.

I also make a big batch of this all at once and freeze it for a quick meal I can chuck in the microwave.

  17. You can buy quorn ready meals like cottage pie, toad in the hole, lasagna and stuff. Otherwise you could nip down to the supermarket and explore the Quorn section to see what there is to replace the meat with.

  18. If  you're making (meat), potatoes and veg for everyone else, you have the veg too and just add slices of Quorn ham, or cook QUorn sausages/burgers for yourself or just use cheese, grated.

In terms of whole veggie meals:  Pasta with various sauces, baked potatoes with various fillings, vegetable lasagne, quiche...
