  1. An unearned run means a pitcher has runners on base that he has put there via walking the batter or the batter getting a hit. Now lets say there is a runner on second base with two outs. The batter hits a fly ball and the outfielder  drops it. The runner on second runs home, but the pitcher is not charged with the run, because assuming the ball was catch able it was an error therefore its a safe assumption to say the ball should have been caught.

Am earned run is any run that scores at the fault of the pitcher. Also, if the pitcher gets pulled from the game with runners on base, any base runner at the time the new pitcher comes is still the responsibility of the old pitcher. So if those runners scores it does not get charged to the new pitcher.

  2. hard to explain ill let other do that.

  3. An earned run is a run that the pitcher gives up via (walk, hit, or Hit by pitch).  An unearned run is when a pitcher gives up a run because someone made an error.  So a pitcher can give up 10 runs in 7 innings but only 5 were earned, meaning errors led to the other 5 runs.

  4. an unearned run is a run scored by a runner on base who made it there due to an error by a fielder. when a batter gets a base hit or a walk then scores, it counts as an earned run.

  5. Bases are loaded and they walk the next batter.

  6. it means they scored a run on a fielders error

  7. A unearned run means that if a pitcher gets a guy on base and then a new pitcher comes in and that base runner scores that no a earned run for the new pitcher.

A earned run means a pitcher gives up a run and no new pitcher comes in. Earned runs counts against your ERA ( Earned Run Average )

  8. An unearned run occurs when a run scores either by a fielder error, wild pitch by the pitcher, or past-ball by the catcher.

  9. It means the baserunner got on base (and scored) due to an error and the pitcher is not charged with the run.

  10. He scorred on an error

  11. An earned run is one that is scored via walks, hits, HBP, etc.  The pitcher has "earned" these runs based on the way he pitched.

An unearned run is one that is not a direct result of the pitcher's pitching performance, due to an error by the pitcher or any of the players on his team.  If a fielder does not make a play that he should reasonably be able to make, it is an error. For instance, a dropped ball, a ball thrown over someone's head, or a ball going between someone's legs are examples of an error.

If a runner gets on base via an error, his run will be unearned.  If a runner is on base and scores because of an error, his run will also be unearned.  If there are 2 outs and an error is then commited that allows the inning to continue, then all runs for the rest of the inning will be considered unearned (because the inning reasonably should have ended without the error).
