  1. Assuming that your small engine is a two- stroke engine

(one revolution per firing) then here are several things that you can do to increase the power of your small engine:

    1. Grind down your cylinder head slightly to improve the compression ratio. This has to be done in a machine shop to ensure that you maintain a flat surface for the gasket face.

    2. Slightly increase the area of the intake and exhaust ports.

    3. Golf ball ( make some shallow cavities using a blunt drill bit) the skirt of your piston to increase the lubrication area

( which also serve as the cooling area of the piston).

    4. You may replace the exhaust pipe with one that does not have a muffler but be sure the replacement is long enough to avoid a very high pressure difference between the cylinder space and the exhaust space which may damage your engine.

    5. If you need more power, you can also have your cylinder rebored to an allowable oversize then replace your piston rings correspondingly.

    6. Replace your spark plug with a platinum spark plug.

  2. Change the final gear ratio

    Remove the muffler

    Install a free-flowing air filter

  3. Not much unless you rebuild the engine, perhaps with higher compression, or a better carbuerator.
