  1. I am sorry for your loss. With all you have been through, I recommend that you ask this question to your doctor. There are medicines you can take to prevent preventable miscarriages, but only your doctor will tell you what they are and prescribe them for you. It sounds like you may have had a blighted ovum, in that case there is nothing you could have done or taken to prevent the miscarriage, it was likely a chromosomal abnormality. All you can do is take pre-natal vitamins and eat a very healthy balanced diet.

  2. There is really nothing that can prevent a miscarriage...if there was...then there would be no more miscarriages.  A miscarriage is nature's way of saying that there was something wrong with the pregnancy.

  3. I am sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to prevent a miscarriage--- unless it is determined that you have some type of hormonal problem that is causing you to not be able to sustain a pregnancy.  The fact that their was nothing in the sac most likely indicates that the cells were not healthy and could not grow.

Unfortunately, miscarriages are very common.  25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.

The only thing that you can do is to take prenatal vitamins and a minimum of 400mcg of folic acid.  They help to prevent birth defects and promote a healthy baby and pregnancy.  It is best to start taking them 3 months prior to conception.  Eat right, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and do not smoke.  Basically, take good care of yourself and that will provide the best environment for a pregnancy.

I wish you the best of luck.
