  1. yes.  and it is possible to need an ibuprofen if you are on morphine, morphine is just pain related, ibuprofen is pain and inflammation.

  2. i migth be

  3. If you're taking Morphine 15mg, why would you need Ibuprofen? Better to ask doc about that or a pharmacist. Don't take any advice from here.

  4. Looks good to me.  Here are the dangerous interactions you should avoid while taking morphine:

Interactions between your selected drugs and food

    morphine (Major Drug-Food)

GENERALLY AVOID: The central nervous system-depressant effects of morphine and alcohol may be additive. The combination may result in additive CNS-depression and impairment of judgment, thinking, and psycho-motor skills. In more severe cases, respiratory depression, hypotension, profound sedation, and coma can occur.

GENERALLY AVOID: Consumption of alcohol while taking some sustained-release formulations of morphine may cause rapid release of the drug, resulting in high systemic levels of morphine that may be potentially lethal. Alcohol apparently can disrupt the release mechanism of some sustained-release formulations. The interaction was observed in in vitro studies using a 24-hour morphine formulation (Avinza 30 mg capsule, available in the U.S. from Ligand Pharmaceuticals). When the capsule was mixed with 900 mL of buffer solutions containing ethanol 20% and 40%, the dose of morphine that was released was alcohol concentration-dependent, leading to a more rapid release of morphine. Although the clinical relevance of this finding is unknown, 'dose-dumping' into the bloodstream is conceivable.

  5. well yes it'd be safe once you don't have a reason not to take it...for instance an ulcer or asthma.

What you should avoid is otc products with codeine in them as they attach to the morphine receptor and block morphine...make pain worse....

Normal morphine dosage works by giving a slow releas morphine product twice ( rarely 3 times) daily and using an immediate release form of morphine for breakthrough pain. I'm guessing you've someone starting morphine and they've gotten breakthrough pain and you're stuck for advice over the weekend? Well come Monday I'd contact the doctor and look for an immediate release form of morphine eg sevredol in my country. Pain is strange- if you allow it to emerge it gets harder to treat so doctors tend to go for a slight overtreatment. This is how it works:

Say you're on morphine controlled release 15mg twice daily and you get pain...then you might take 5mg of immediate release morphine to boost your pain protection. If you used 2 doses of 5mg repeatedly all week the doctor would review the dosage and increase the controlled release form to 20mg twice daily the next week and so on
