  1. Ginger is great in moderation as are all the warming spices like the other member suggested. You can also try natural decongestant rubs on your chest. I actually have rubbed some on my chest then went into a hot shower and let the water run on my back you get the benefits of the steam and the mentholated oils.

Are you approved for an antihistamine? If so try one, it depends where your mucous is coming from mostly? Is it sinus drainage congestion or chest or maybe both? They have Musanex without the D. They even use its main ingredient in some natural syrups too, but they may add other bronchodialators that increase the heart. If it is nasal saline flushes with NeilMed sinus rinse, or sinus busters with capcacin. If it is chest do experiment with the milk/processed sugar elimination and drink warm decaf/ or herbal teas. Just don't use the type for decongesting because they will contain herbs that will elevate your heart rate. Hope this helps, been there done that ,but I can elevate my heart , it must be so much harder for you to get relief. Oh-lastly don't eat late before bed -acid reflux can aggravate the sinuses and cause you to be more congested and with a sore throat in the morning.

  2. n-acetly cysteine (NAC)

    cysteine is an amino acid

  3. Mucus - Bryonia 30, antim tart 30.

    increase heart rate(bradicardia) - Spigelia 30. Digitalis 30(with caution)

decrease-  palpitation, Tachycardia-  too many medicines.

Above is information.  Medicines should be used strictly under supervision of doctor.

  4. It would seem you may have a water imbalance......which is a sign of  a lack of   minerals....Dr scheusslers tissue salts are natural and homeopathic, and can be bought in health shops, usually if we lack in one of these minerals there are one or two others too, you can get them in combinations, I would suggest that the combination J would help there, it is a combination of ferr Phos...the oxygenater, Kali mur which conditions the blood and the nat mur is the fluid balancer in the body. There is a small book about them and how we can use the salts that is very interesting and easy to understand.

  5. 1)  Quit eating all dairy and white flour/sugar products for awhile.  You may need to look at eliminating eggs and meat as well.  If it's creamy, it is NOT your friend.  2)  I am unclear that there is a medicine extant that will help you clear/control mucous that is not a decongestant.  It's a contradiction in terms, but what I think you're getting at is not wanting to take a medicine like Sudafed that will dry you out or make you "buzzy", right?  First thing to do is to try "hotting yourself up" (and this may actually make the mucous situation worse for awhile.  That's exactly what you want to do, whether you know that or not, get the mucous to come up, and out.)  Use lots of ginger, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, cloves, allspice, chilis, curries, garam masala, garlic in your cooking.  These are called warming spices and they do precisely that, warm you up.  Start eating miso soup every morning for breakfast.  Look at eating ethnic foods that are not high in fats and dairy, such as Thai, Mexican, Indian food (especially if you prepare this last one at home...check out Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Malay food, as well.)  This will help immensely, too.  You may need to look at eliminating fats and oils, especially lots of mayo from your diet for a good long while, too.  You may be asking, "Well, what can I eat now?".  You can eat any grain, any bean, any fruit, any veggie, lean meats and poultry and fish.  Herbs like thyme, basil, sage, rosemary, parsley will also help you to heal and to get rid of the mucous in your body.  Many people also swear by organic apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and citrus fruits in general being mucostatic.  Know also that guaifenisen, which is used in the pharmacological industry as a mucostat is natural in origin.  It comes from the guaiac tree, or did originally.  Slippery elm bark and marsh mallow (the herb, not the big, white, puffy, cloud-like candy) are also highly effective in the body in assisting it to alleviate mucous.  So is horehound.  All this green slimy stuff didn't get there over night (into your body, that is...).  It will take awhile to get it all out, too.  Ice cream, pizza, cheeses in general will make the situation worse, so quit them for awhile, a good long while, like years.  If you insist on cheese, use goat cheese or a sheep's milk based cheese like Romano.  There are many really good-tasting sheep and goat's milk cheeses.  Feta also works for many people.  Pulsatilla homeopathic remedy is a specific for "green, ripe colds w/ lots of mucous".  Read up on this remedy and see if the personality profile fits your symptoms.
