    Many movies still use film.

The film is processed and edited just as it was many years ago. Sometimes that film is processed, then digitized so the editing process can be don on computers (not like yours at home, high-end workstations).

Some films go straight to digital.

At the lower end, some indie film produces also use film... but sometimes use the higher end camcorders like the Panasonic HDX200, Sony HVR-V1U and Canon XHA1.

It all depends on the message and mood they want to send, their skill and experience - and their budget. Consumer camcorder are very rarely used - and if they are, it would normally only be for "b-roll" inserts. The only recent exception that comes to mind is "Blair Witch Project".
