What mexico city would be a good to vacation in for 3 women, not cancun?

Guadalajara!!!! There' s so much to do, and places close by to visit such as Michoacan, Puerto Vallarta, Tequila.. I do not suggest staying for the whole time Puerto Vallarta, it is TRASHY and gross! I just went last year, Sept. 2007 and the water was so polluted you couldn't even go in it.

Hello, Well it all depends on if you have someone who speaks enough spanish to get by...

I suggest you try Chetumal, Quintana Roo. Its right on the Belize border so you can always take a taxi to Belize to the Tax free zone and if you have American money its ALOT cheaper for clothing an stuff. plus they speak english there. If you decide to go there also go to Bacalar the lagoon of seven colors its absolutely amazing~ You can swim in it and everything.

Chetumal is about 3 hours from Cancun and people really wont bother you there. Just drink pleant of botled water anywhere you travel in Mexico an take lots of suncream.

If you like artsy stuff and colonial architecture then San Miguel de Allende would be a great place for you to get a feel for the cultural side of Mexico. This place has beautiful old buildings, great art schools, charming shops and eateries, and a slightly European feel to it. It also has a growing expat community of Americans and Canadians as well as  many Europeans calling it home.  While it is relatively close to Mexico City as the crow flies, it is still a 4 or 5 hour bus ride from the airport :-( and a world away in terms of charm.
