Question:

What might cause my lemon balm to brown on the edges of its leaves?

My lemon balm's leaves are turning brown. It was just on the edges, though, and anywhere the leaves touched the soil. They turn brown and dry out. Previously, it was only the edges; now, it's the whole plant. What is causing this? It's not happening to any of my other herbs...

  1. It's most likely a disease that is caused by poor drainage. It is a kind of mildew I think. I recommend you transplant it to a soil that drains well. Keep an eye on your other herbs, for you may start to see the same symptoms of your lemon balm. It is a rather fragile plant, and thats probably why it succumbed easily.
