Spider has a light brown body w/o the long rear (so not a daddy long legs) and it also has dark brown spots on the back, but the legs are long, thin, and not spotted or stripped. it's over a quarter sized with the legs bent up in a standing position. found it in the bathroom. has 7 legs, missing one.

  1. Sounds like this spider might be it. The Brown Recluse.

  2. You say it is without the long rear?  As in it doesn't have an abdomen?

If that is the case, then it sounds like a harvestmen, aka daddy long legs, to me.

Now, you could be thinking of the cellar spider, also called the daddy long legs, which is a spider and therefor have the long abdomen.

With harvestman, order opiliones, the cephalothorax and abdomen are fused into one part, making it look like it doesn't have an abdomen.

Harvestman are not spiders either, but they are arachnids like the spiders, scorpions, ticks, and mites.

It sounds like your find has had to get away.  Harvestman loose their legs easily when something grabs them so they can make a hasty retreat.

  3. You have found a very rare species of the 7 long thin legged, light brown, spotted back spider of the arachnid family,do not splat it with a shoe,or they duplicate.Get in contact with your nearest zoo for instructions on how to deal with it.

  4. Clearly with 7 legs it is a rare cross between an insect and a spider.  They are very rare don't harm it.
