I am a freshman and ran varsity cross country with a 5k pr of 21:38. I took the winter off and am now running a mile at 6:15. I know i could have done better during the cross country season but i'm not sure how much better. i'm kinda out of shape now and was wondering what mile time i should work towards

  1. You shouldn't have any limitations on what you can do. I believe you should be able to break 6 minutes though. If you train hard there is no stopping what you can do. You seem to be a serious runner and I think you can be even better. You just have to get all those doubts out of your head. I believe running long distance is more mental than it is physical. You just have to ignore the pain and that voice in your head that tells you to slow down and take it easy. I believe you can do great! Good Luck!

  2. i am also a freshmen on varsity but my 5k is like a 19:00 - and right now i am running a 5:10 mile

i would definetly work on getting a sub-6 minute mile because i definetly think you could.  - so work on under a 6 minute mile and then go for like a 5:40... there are girls on my team who would run like a 22 min 5k, and at the end of track are running a 5:40 ish. ---- so i definetly think you could do it.

also.. some people are more track runners and more cross country runners, some people excel more in x-country so it all kinda depends

    good luck!

  3. 5.55 for you

  4. I think that is a pretty good time..at my high school ,either people are really slow or your pretty good for a freshman girl

  5. 5:52 or better seems like a pretty good goal to me.  I have about the same 5k PR as you.  I started the track season with a mile of about 6:10.  I've worked it down to 5:54, but it's been a few weeks, and I think I need a new PR.  5:52 is my goal :)

  6. Work towards 1 min.   try to full out sprint the mile each day without stopping and if you stop, DON'T STOP, but if you pass out, try and try to sprint again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
