What mirrors are required on a vehicle in California?

I have a Jeep and live in north California. The temperature is getting into the triple digits and it's time to take the doors off. My driver and passenger mirrors (the side mirrors) are attached to the doors and therefore go with them. My question is how many and which mirrors are required on legal vehicle in CALIFORNIA? (that means please don't respond saying "Well in Nevada, or Texas....you don't). If you could give me the code or section of the law, that would be fantastic!

Thanks for your time.

  1. California vehicles are REQUIRED to have 2 rearview mirrors that are unobstructed like from tinted windows.  So saying that, one drivers side and one rear view if your windows are not tinted or two side view if back window is tinted.

  2. At least two of them. Two side views, or a rear view and one side view at least.

  3. I live in Los Angeles County. I am pretty sure you have to have a driver side mirror and/or one other, like a rearview or right side mirror. If you look hard enough you can probably find mirrors that attach to the body of the vehicle as opposed to the doors. A couple of bolts and you should be in business. I could be wrong, but I have not heard that you only need a rearview mirror. Good luck - its hotter than h**l here, too!

  4. I live in north California too, by law you only have to have the drivers side mirror and one other mirror
