I am currently a nursing student with one misdemeanor on my record and I heard several of instructors say that you need to have a spotless record and some say just be honest about it and maybe the board of nursing will consider your situation and work with you, and then I also heard some nurses say that the board is mostly looking for felonies, elder abuse, drug related charges, and those with a long criminal record. I just want to know before I shell out more money for school, I am doing really well and I don't want all of these tired nights of studying and stress to be all for nothing.

  1. It would help if knew what you where convicted of. You have the another option too. You can go to the court and asked to have your record removed. I'm not sure how to spell it correctly, but is called having your record exsponged. If you haven't been a repeat offender, this is possible. Do it now, however. When you are ready to apply for your request to sit for the boards, it should be completed.  They are looking for drug and alcohol related arrests especially. If you were a minor at the time, they will also look at it differently. I had been arrested for assault, terroristic threats and destruction of property

during a domestic event and the charges where dismissed. I am now an RN.
