  1. The African haplogroup L3 spawned haplogroup N & M which "appear" to have been the 1st groups to migrate out of Africa.  Haplogroup M appears to be the founding haplogroup of the South East Asians, New Zealand, American & Australian Natives therefore M is considered oldest of the of the 2 out of Africa haplogroups (by most).


  2. That's a tricky one. L3, or possibly M and N more or less simultaneously. Both M and N haplotypes came from the mt DNA type L, they may or may not have mutated in Africa, it may have been in Yemen or the Middle East. Type M moved across Southern Asia along a coastal route, Type N spilled out into Europe, Asia and everywhere else.
