  1. Dual and tri ban phones both work... but as others mentioned... local Turkish sim cards will be cheaper (even for a short stay).  Nonetheless, all major carriers (Orange, T Mobile, etc) will work.

Also, if you plan to stay in Turkey more than 15 days bring the receipt for your cell phone.  It can be locked if not registered at the custom's office upon arrival at the airport.  Then the phone will not only stop working in Turkey, but also in your home country!  (This happened to me, and it is horrible!)

  2. Either work in Turkey, the only problem you have with mobile phones is that if you are in Turkey using a non-Turkish phone for more than just over 2 weeks, your phone will be cut off, unless you register it.  For normal holidays you will have no trouble at all.  Local sim cards do not work in non-Turkish phones, so don't try to buy one unless you are going to buy the cheap phone as well.

  3. dual is fine. i have orange works fine in turkey, my hubby has t-mobile it works well too. but i guess you have to register your phone or something before entering the country thats if you want to use turkish sim card in your orange phone. last time i was there because it is expensive tariff using phone abroad i bought a turkish simcard to use in my orange phone it did not work . so i was stuck with english simcard and i got  large telephone bill when i got back to the UK

  4. Dual is OK, but please note this: you will be paying for all calls coming to you from the UK, I went to Egypt for a business trip for a week, my office was calling me a lot, when I cam,e back home to the UK got  a big fat bill.

  5. I have a duel and it worked fine, your phone will automatically pick up on a Turkish network (mine and my friends did) and you can use it as normal.beware though, your provider will charge you for receiving texts abroad. have a great time. and i mean ANYWHERE not just turkey

  6. Dual Band.I'm on Virgin which i think uses the Vodaphone network and have no problems.

  7. they both work. I'm with 3 and my daughter is with vodafone. both worked fine in Turkey. My friend is on O2 and is in Turkey now. we are texting each other with no problems.
