Question:

What model graphing calculator should I buy?

I'm taking Calculus I and Technical Physics I (calc.- based) this semester, and will take the second parts of both classes in the spring. That's all the math and physics I'm required to take, so I don't want to spend a lot of money on a calculator that does more than what I need.

I used a TI-83 in high school, so I'm slightly more familiar with that model, but that was over 10 years ago, and what I've read seems to suggest a TI-89 is better for calculus. Thoughts?

I'm a chemistry major, but haven't found much need for a graphing calculator in any of those classes.

  1. I've only taken Calculus but my TI-84 plus was just fine

    (TI-84 plus is faster TI-83)

a TI-89 in my opinion is to much for Calculus I.
