I'm interested in buying this motorcycle as a fixer-upper, but I don't know the model to check prices on some parts it needs. Is there anybody familiar enough with motorcycles to look at this pic and tell me what model it is? http://media.golsn.com/img/u/3387379.jpg

  1. looks like a CB twin to me,,,   the 250 had a single disc on the front..  the 360/450 had twin discs..

but the engine no on the right hand side engine case should tell you what it is..

the barrels also often had the cc cast into the base..  so look around the bottom of the barrels ...

  2. Looks like a Nighthawk. Also looks like a POS. I'd avoid this one unless you are looking for a learning experience.

  3. That's not a 750. It is a vertical twin cylinder and all Honda 750s are 4 cylinder. I would guess it's a 360 or 450 cc. Look on e-bay and see which one lines up. To buy parts, you need the frame serial number. Honda probably won't make parts for it anymore because of its age.

  4. definitely not a 750- looks like a beat 650 nighthawk- if its low miles and cheap, its ok- its a bic lighter- use it up and throw it away- if someone's already thrown it away, dont pick it up.

  5. Looks like a single cylinder, to me, but in any case it's not an inline 4.

Black engine, blacked out Comstar aluminum wheels, it may be a nighthawk.

Look for the frame number or the engine number. Should be a serial number up on the left side of the steering head, which matches the engine number on the Engine casing.

    I dunno.

The serial number consists of 3 digits for where it was made and what use it was for (motorcycle, ATV) followed by 4 digits that are unique to a model.  (There were two CB400, and one was a four and the other was a twin, this is how Honda kept them separate.)  Next is a check digit. Model year code B 1981, C1982, D 1983, E 1984, F 1985, G 1986, on to x 1993, with out using I O Q U. then a digit that indicates the plant location, and the sequential production number, 6 digits.

Does any one know what they used for 1994 and after, for the year code?

  6. Transmission work?  :(

Unless it's anything other than a simple clutch,

      Stay away.

This bike could cost you way more than your $300 investment.
