It depends on the toy. It depends on who is using the toy, ie. Does the child have a disability and what it is?

What do you hope this toy will do for the child?

There are toys that stimulate children of all ages and for all reasons. I would investigate those before buying a "cheap" dollar store toy and trying to modify it.
