Basically, I'm having difficulty figuring out what membrane proteins are involved in cells adhering to a petri dish, flask, or any plastic substrate. I think it might be integrins but I am not sure and I can't find any articles to confirm that. It couldn't be like cadherins correct?

  1. proteins, Mg++, Ca++

    The prteins involved may be components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), not cell membrane proteins. ECM serves to glue the cells together. They are probably proteoglycans.

    It takes trypsin-EDTA to lift the cells off the surface. EDTA is a chelator and trypsin is a protease.
