  2. pound sterling and they do accept the euro- but not everywhere so make sure you have both- and if you plan to draw cash from an ATM be prepared to pay fines- you can use your debit card there- that was the best for currency exchange rate

    Contrary to what some have suggested Scotland does NOT use the Euro. Some larger businesses, such as chain stores and hotels, may accept Euro notes (and US Dollars too), but the rate of exchange will not be very favourable.
