  1. The Almight Dollar is still popular but be advised, you will get screwed on the daily dollar to Euro exchange rates.  Do not change money at the Airport, you will get screwed too.

If you have a bank near you that will change your money, they usually do not charge as much as the blood sucking vermon at the airport.

  2. First of all, don't believe the person who said "dollars...they work everywhere".  That's ridiculous.  You cannot use any currency except EUROS in Spain.  You can however use your debit card to withdraw money at cash machines.  Spanish banks charge 1-2 euros for this.  Of course, your bank at home probably also charges you.  You can also bring some canadian money with you and change it into euros at the airport (or at an exchange place in town).  Be careful to carry large amounts of cash in a money belt.  I know some people use traveler's checks, but i've always found the to be an inconvenience.  As someone who travels between Europe and the US a lot, I definitely prefer to use my debit card and withdraw money when i need it.

  3. Travelers checks. They are safer than cash and cards and you can use them almost anywhere around the world. You can ask about and get them at your bank. DON'T bring cash.

  4. Alright Aimie,

believe it or not im going to spain in august to malaga for the month to work, am STILL planning it now, need some help!! lol.

With the money situation, your currency is stronger than our sterling with the euro. so the amount you should take is entirely up to you, the most important thing is that you need food, accommodation and some comfort essentials such as phone cards, snacks, alcohol etc etc.

anyway if you like, i can tell you more as i have almost planned my side of what im doing in malaga.

Hope this has helped you a little.

    Chris

  5. You can use debit if it has Visa or MasterCard printed on it. If not I don't suggest cash but instead Traveler's Checks. You can get these at your bank usually free or another bank for a fee. At the bare minimum go to a local store and put that money on a prepaid credit card.

  6. You could just not bring any

  7. no you cant take money out over there so get as much as you need out before you go and change it into euros before you go too. hope you have a nice holliday :)

  8. It would really be best to use a credit card.. My bank had always advised me that it's the best option when travelling far from where you live.. But yeah you're 18 so just take cash, but make sure you have plenty for what you need.  your bank may charge you alot for using your debit overseas.  Spain use euros now so yeah it's cool that can keep whats leftover for the next time you visit europe..

  9. Spain uses the Euro. Contact your bank to see if they offer currency exchange. Otherwise, you'll find plenty of places to exchange your Canadian Dollars for Euro once you arrive. The exchange rate hasn't been too good lately, so prepare to spend more than you thought you would.

Enjoy your holiday - have some Tapas & Sangria for me.

  10. You will be able to get money out from an ATM, no problems.

  11. Chucky Cheese Tokens, 50 should do ya just fine for a week any longer use visa.

  12. American, and lots of it just in case you need it :)

  13. Life money or Monopoly money. Your preference really.

  14. euros

  15. I bought euros from the bank and hide them well. 60 to 80 euros a day will get you by well. You can use the atms with a bank atm card if it has the visa logo on it.

  16. dollars... it works every where! :D
