There is no malaria in San Miguel de Allende. No pills necessary.

Only in some remote, tropical areas of the south would you need to worry about that.

The mallaria is transmited by a specific mosquitoe, wich does not survive over 1500 meters over sea level, and it needs also high humidity and warm (tropical weather), and those conditions are not found neither at San Miguel de Allende nor any site at the mexican highlands. At winter in San Miguel, the temperature can be below 0ºC (frozen), the mosquitoe can't survive.

So, you don't need mallaria pills there. Mallaria is very uncommon in México. It is found in África more usually, not in this continent.
