  3. You should read the book and find out for yourself, it means more that way. It's a good book if you break it up and digest it, really look between the lines(:

  4. she doesn't want to read it because it's a dumb book!! =)

I honestly can't remember exactly what they are, but doesn't she like talk about her neighbors and buys a bike with this one little chick but they don't share it and her neighbor girl is a B***tch??

  5. Okay, people don't asnwer actual questions, but they love to answer opinion questions in polls and surveys, or answer when people ask if they look good or whatever. So much for a question and answer site.

I'm not really sure what kind of 'virtues' they had, because all of the characters were different. All I know is that it had a lot to do with independence from a man. The main character(that girl) just wanted to live on her own, and not be in control of her dad or get a husband who controls her like many other women she sees do. Sally didn't have that many moral values, because she'd always be too flirtatious and go off boys. She ended up marrying a guy just like her father though, and early too. The boys who raped the Ezpernaza or something her name is? obviously didn't have good values. Uhm, the mother was nice I guess. She told her daughter to work hard, and not be like her. She said she quit school because she didn't have nice clothes, but she could've made something of herself.Yeah, I kind of forget the characters, and it's kind of hard to tell what their values were. Just re-read how the characters are, and you'll probably be able to tell. Oh, the surgeon or doctor was selfish or arrogant, right? He didn't rush to help the immigrant guy who was hurt, so he died because it was too late. He was just anobody to them. If a rich, white person were to be hurt, assistance would be immediate. I'mnot really ure if that's exactly what happened, but from what I can remember, I think it is.

The answer above is spam I think, so don't click it.

Oh yeah, that person is right about the bike part. Like, two neighbor girls who are sisters have a bike, and she pays $5 to let them share it with her.

Some of the characters are just unhappy women who aren't allowed to do anything because they're husbands are too controlling. A lot of them men are rude, mean, look down on women, etc. Sally's father would hit her, and going out with boys would be a way to escape. She'd change when she gets home by wiping off her makeup. Esperanza kind of wanted to be like her, so that's why she went to the carnival with her, where she got raped. She was asking Sally why she never came when she called her name. I don't know why sally didn't come for her. Maybe she didn't hear her. (Also, I'm not sure if she actually got raped, but it's obvious she was violated someway.)

  6. How about you read the book?
